Born in 1975 in Nagano, Japan, currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Kamijo moved to the US at the age of 16 and comleted BFA Painting and Drawing at the University of Oregon in 2000, followed by MFA Painting and Drawing at the University of Washington in 2002. Kamijo's exploration in painting and drawing takes an abstract approach to familiar subjects such as animals and human faces, playing with forms and colors with a concise handling of media. Since 2014, he has been working on a series of colorful drawings depicting poodels. His recent solo exhibitions include ‘I Will Walk You Tomorrow’ Harper’s Books (NY, 2018), ‘Poodles’ Tortoise (LA, 2018), ‘Poodles’ Sotheby’s S2 (NY, 2017), ‘I Think So’ Marvin Gardens (NY, 2016). He has also participated in various group shows in Italy, UK and Belgium.
